Bermuda Newborn Photographers: A Covid Shift
OK, so let me first address the elephant in the room: Yes, I do also take newborn photos in colour! But clearly when it comes to my favourites to share, I’m a sucker for black and white 😂
With so many expectant mums stills hoping to capture those first, fleeting moments with their new bundles of joy I wanted to write a post that goes over how this is still possible - just altered. We’ve always offered newborns at home as well as at our studio, and so with this shift, my focus will be capturing your family in your own space. Placing the safety of your new baby has ALWAYS been our top priority, but rather than how I pose them this now refers to the physical contact I will have with them. Rather than snuggly swaddling and posing your babe, I’ll focus on you cuddling with them - as well with siblings and/or grandparents. I can direct you on how to swaddle with receiving blankets, and guide you where to place baby so that I can capture sweet details, but I will refrain from touching them myself. (I WILL be fully masked and sanitised, as will all sessions).
Lately, I’ve really been favouring these sorts of newborn images and have loved it when families request I come to them - so I’m looking at this covid mandated shift as a way to redirect fully into what I’ve already been gearing toward. And yes, I promise there will also be colour!
For those of you who have booked or are considering a Fresh 48 session, the restrictions on visitors at KEMH means that in the immediacy I won’t be able to come to you at the hospital right after birth - so am shifting these to extend beyond the first 48-hours so that they can be scheduled once you are home. Ideally we will still want to capture as close to the first 48 as possible - but again, safety is paramount so we will schedule around the recommendation of your paediatrician and/or OB upon your discharge.
At the end of the day - it is still possible to document your newly expanded family, and we will be doing so in a way that ensures safe distancing and minimal contact as per government regulations. As with all our sessions, we will continue to adapt based on the Phases and what government/heath officials recommend.
I want to wish all mamas out there a truly wonderful labour experience, despite the changes that this pandemic brings. At the end of the day you will be holding your perfect baby - and honestly, there is nothing better than that! xx
