All about a First Look!
With spring upon us (I’m obsessed, have you noticed?) it means wedding season is about to kick into high gear! We get asked all the time about a First Look, what exactly is it and why do we recommend them?
Let us start by saying there is no right or wrong way to schedule your couples portraits - and your decision will either come down to personal / religious preference or simply how it best fits within the day of schedule. What we love about a First Look is that it give you, the couple, a chance to be together before the hustle and bustle of the day really starts. You can enjoy your portrait session without feeling guilty for leaving guests at cocktails too long, or feeling rude that you need to part from your well wishers to get to your portrait session. In our experiences, First Looks are often a much more relaxed approach.
We often hear objection about them because the couple wants the “first sighting” to be down the aisle. From experience - and I’m talking our own wedding, not just the hundreds we’ve photographed - that moment of seeing each other down the aisle will be every bit as emotion with or without a first look! (This is where I tell the internet that Mark definitely cried during my procession!)
